Kimberly Rose Herr, 62, of Springfield, died at 11:35 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Villa East Healthcare in Sherman. She was known for her generosity, feisty spirit, and vibrance. Kimberly left an unforgettable mark on the lives of all who knew her.
Kimberly was born September 6, 1962, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Harry and Gladys Garst Ausmus. She shared her life with her husband, Fred, to whom she was married for 31 years and together for 35. Their love was a testament to devotion, partnership, and the laughter that filled their years together.
Kimberly attended Lanphier High School. She was employed throughout her career at the Sangamon County Sheriff's Department Crime Prevention Unit, Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, Illinois Association of School Administrators, and Horace Mann.
Kimberly volunteered with the St. Jude's Springfield to Peoria Run. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was also involved with altar care. She enjoyed coun
