Mary Jo McDevitt, 79, of Springfield, died on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
She was born on August 29, 1945, in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of George J. Marjorie Gwin McDevitt.
Mary worked for St. John's Hospital in data entry. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, taking care of her plants, 1950s music, and the movie, Grease. Mary was known as fun, theatrical, very caring, and the best dog mom to her pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved schnauzers, Lucy and Vanessa.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Jacquelyn C. Thomas and Jennifer C. Payne; son, Erik T. Smith; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
