Elmer James "Jim" Zimmerman Jr, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, in Gurnee, Illinois. He was 94 years old and was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Anita, and served as a selfless and devoted caregiver in the last years of her life.
Jim was born March 4, 1930 on the southside of Chicago to Elmer and Gertrude Zimmerman. Jim attended St. Rita High School for 2 years and then moved permanently to Cross Lake, Wisconsin, where he attended and graduated from Antioch High School. Jim married the love of his life, Anita, in 1955, and they proceeded to build a wonderful life for themselves and their children in Niles, Evergreen Park, and finally Glenview, IL. He was a devoted brother, son, husband, father, and friend who was constantly trying to make things better for everybody. Jim had a long and successful career in the commercial lighting business and routinely worked on projects with the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District. He was known for his ability to make
